About Carley

Carley Byers is a writer, director, and producer working full-time in the film industry. She brings a multifaceted approach to production, having worked in nearly every department on a film set. Whether she’s crafting an emotional scene with an actor or ironing out the logistics of a shoot, she thrives on collaboration and creative problem-solving.

Her love of storytelling began with dance, theatre, and visual art. Those passions led her to Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where she deepened her appreciation for different artistic mediums and refined her creative voice. Since graduating in 2021, Carley has built her career in the New England film scene, beginning as a set decorator before finding her home in producing and directing.

As a filmmaker, Carley is drawn to creating unique cinematic landscapes. A disco-dance jungle hidden in the back of pizza shop (After Closing) or a 1950s thriller set inside a Victorian mansion (Don’t Fall From Grace). No matter how whimsical the setting, these stories remain grounded in the human condition. She loves developing characters in close collaboration with actors and shaping the visual language of the film alongside her creative team.

Carley approaches producing through the lens of a director, understanding the importance of protecting and executing a creative vision. She combines her on-set experience, budgeting expertise, and network of trusted collaborators to guide productions from development through completion. Above all, she strives to lead with kindness, fostering inclusive on-set environments that support meaningful storytelling from set to screen.

I named the company, No Ordinary Days because I found living and working as a filmmaker you never have an ordinary day. You’re always pushed to do the absurd. And that’s exactly how I like it! Making art is weird and fun. So let’s lean into it!

My Mom also happened to buy me a book for my high school graduation titled, No Ordinary Days (how full circle is that!). It’s filled with beautiful quotes that encourage you to feel connected to the extraordinary things around you. With both of those things in mind, it felt like the perfect fit.

Why call the production company No Ordinary Days

What’s the deal with the hedgehog?

When I was still in college, I started putting photos of hedgehogs at the end of call sheet emails. I carried this tradition into my professional life. I love theming the hedgehog photo to the shoot. This practice made me synonymous with the hedgehog. To this day, my friends and collaborators will send hedgehog photos to me. Win, win!
